Another Great Day!

The workshop continued on Wednesday 7th with presentations about Processes and Procedures and Graphs by Samantha. Participants were able to present their Oral Presentations prepared yesterday and in the afternoon session, participants explored Job Hunting Skills and held Job Interviews in a role play. The day concluded with a Closing Ceremony featuring the launch of a board game devised by Melaka Politeknik English Dept. Head, Marina Abu Bakar called 'What Say You'. Informative speeches from the Director of Melaka Politeknick and another by CEO of Brighton Education Mr.Christopher Bell were also presented The workshop was very successful and hopefully we can repeat this type of activity in other Politekniks in Malaysia as well as some other options for supporting English teaching and teaching in English in Politekniks. Big thank yous to all at Melaka Politeknik English Department and everyone who participated in the workshop.

What A Great Day

Thanks to everyone for participating so well today. In particular, the way participants interacted in groups on tasks and sharing ideas was great to see. Hope you can all respond here at some stage so that you share more of your thoughts. In the meantime, enjoy Melaka and see you tomorrow bright and early for an 8.00 a.m start.

Workshop Presenters




Brighton Education Group Presenters
Stephen-John Curtis  

Stephen-John started working life as a Master Painter & Decorator and film and stage actor. Later he was awarded a Bachelor of Education with a Specialist Major in Drama Teaching K-12 from SACAE in South Australia. He has over twenty years teaching experience and curriculum design in Performing Arts and English for Secondary Education in Australia and South East Asia. He also holds a Diploma in Performing Arts – Production from the Victorian College of the Arts and a Trinity Cert.Tesol. He is an accomplished director set and lighting designer. Since 2011 he has been an English Language Consultant and English Language Centre Project Manager. He has produced a number of other projects as part of the Brighton team as well as writing curriculum, children’s books and working with the Orang Asli community.  He is currently studying a MA ELT with University of East London.

Samantha Richards
Samantha Richards graduated from Exeter University with a BA (Hons.) in Sports Studies.  However, it was her work with the international students at the university that led her to Japan and her career teaching English.  During her ten years working in Japan as a teacher and curriculum writer, she completed her MA in Teaching English to Young Learners and moved to Malaysia to mentor Malaysia primary school teachers.  She has served as an advisor to the Ministry of Education and has presented at conferences throughout Malaysia and South East Asia.
